Working with Inner Critics and Internalized Oppression to Unleash Our Power and Ourselves
This technical and experiential seminar faces the concept of the inner critic, an internal voice that judges, diminishes and often undermines our self-esteem and our sense of personal value. This psychological figure not only internalizes social, political influences and personal traumas, but also assumes different forms, such as the perfectionist, the controller, the culprit or the destroyer, each of which contributes to feelings of shame and inadequacy. The seminar also highlights how the inner critic can act as a “ghost figure” in group dynamics, relationships and systems, influencing social interactions. Participants will be able to develop a new relationship with this inner figure, learning to disarm it and use it as a resource for personal and relational growth.
Topic
The Inner Critic or critical inner voice is a concept that describes and internal figure in our psychology that judges and demines the person. We usually experience it as an internal attack and it produces feelings of shame, deficiency, low selfsteem and depression, undermining our self-confidence.
The inner critic internalizes social and political perspectives, abuse and trauma and creates tendencies in us: the perfectionist, the taskmaster, the inner controller, the guilt tripper, the destroyer, the underminer, the molder…. It is essential to understand how to move with this figure in relationship level, how to access its power and how liberate ourselves from its oppression.
What will we learn?
This will be a technical and experiential seminar in relationship with this figure where you will learn creative techniques and approaches, such as
- learning to negotiate with the critic
- learning to put boundaries
- learning the story of this figure and when it did appear in your personal journey
- learning the useful power that brings you and how to integrate it
- skills for understanding it and how it shows up in relational channel through accusations and transferences.
- The inner critic as a ghost figure in group and relationships and systems.
